e-CourseWare™ products can be purchased for academic use in a
number of ways:
- Individual students can download and
purchase e-Course® modules directly from the e-Course® Web site. This
greatly simplifies course planning as you no longer need to correctly
estimate the number of books, or the product mix, to order for your
students. Each student can download the correct product, such as
e-Course® for Office 2000 or e-Course® for Office 97, that best matches
the software they have installed on their home computer.
- If you'd like to use e-Course® products across the
entire campus, we offer cost-effective site licensing terms that allow
you to offer e-Course® training to all students, faculty, and
staff--both on university computers and on their own personal computer
systems. For additional information on academic site licenses,
complete the form at the bottom of this page.
- Educational institutions can also purchase a number
of e-Course® licenses for use on institutional computers. The
institution receives a limited number of installation disks along with
a license to install the software on a specified number of
computers. These academic quantity purchases are typically
offered at a significant discount over the individual purchase price.
e-CourseWare™ products have been used for
years in traditional instructor-led courses, in self-paced courses, and in
distance education programs with as many as 6,000 students per course. Our
exclusive student tracking features help instructors keep track of each
student's progress, even in large self-paced and distance education
courses.
All
e-Course® products are supported with the e-CourseWare™
Academic Software Package, supplied free to instructors who adopt any e-Course® product for
class use:

e-Tests
Two comprehensive, automatically-graded,
skills-based e-Tests are available for each e-Course® title. Many
instructors find the e-Tests to be an invaluable assessment tool and
use them as a significant portion of the overall grade. |

Consolidation
Module Students can use the e-Course®
Tracking Disk to record the time spent in each tutorial, scores on the
QuickCheck questions, and scores on the skills-based e-Quizzes.
Tracking data can be handed in on the Tracking Disk or sent in as an
e-mail attachment. Instructors can then use the Consolidation
Module to consolidate student results into an Access database and
generate a variety of reports on individual students and entire
sections. |
What is a Tracking Disk?
e-Course® uses a Tracking Disk to record data on each student's e-Course®
sessions. Each time a student completes a session, e-Course® records the name of
the e-Course application, the start and stop time, and CheckPoint score. The
Tracking Disk maintains only summary details on CheckPoints, so if you want to
see how a student answered each question, you must ask your students to print
their CheckPoint reports. e-Quiz results are also saved on the Tracking Disk.
How
do Students Create a Tracking Disk?
To create a new Tracking Disk, a
student places a blank, formatted disk in drive A, then starts e-Course®. e-Course®
will check the disk in drive A, then present the student with a list of options.
The student should select the option Copy the Tracking Database, then follow the
instructions on the screen.
Tell your students to insert the
Tracking Disk in drive A before they
start e-Course® at the beginning of each e-Course session.
Is
a Tracking Disk Required to use e-Course®?
No, you do not have to use a
Tracking Disk to use e-Course®. The Tracking Disk is most useful in university
courses and other group training sessions where it provides the instructor with
valuable data on student progress. Individual learners do not need to use a
Tracking Disk if they aren't interested in recording their scores.
How
does the Instructor Use the Tracking Data?
The
e-CourseWare™™ Academic Software Package includes a Consolidation Module that consolidates Tracking Data and generates a
variety of useful reports showing progress for individuals and entire classes.
Some instructors instruct students to periodically hand in their Tracking
Disks. The instructor then runs the Consolidation Module, feeding each
disk into the computer to consolidate data for all students. Alternatively,
instructors can ask students to send in the Tracking file as an e-mail
attachment. The instructor detaches the file, saving it in a specified folder
with a unique name (typically the student ID). The instructor can then run the
Consolidation Module to consolidate all results saved in that folder.
